To facilitate a spacial experience for the participants of the charette for activating the public space I conceptualized and executed a series of walk escapes with the title: Walking Stick.
To reinforce the experience of walking the participants wander with the walking stick to get a sensory contact through the physical movement of walking in the context of an urban landscape.
The theory of "strollogy" of Lucius Burkhardt ‘s "Spaziergangswissenschaft" is based on the thesis that the environment is not perceptible, and if nevertheless, then due to preconceived pictures, which are already formed in the head of the observer. With the series of walk escapes the participants are invited to fetch the environment back again into their heads for the study of our everyday life environment, and identifying content and knowledge. The walk escape is in particular suitable to obtain space impressions and‚ spatial purchases directly by the own physical movement.
